Benedict Rogers

Biography
Prof. Benedict D. Rogers is Chair of Computational Hydrodynamics and leads the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) group at the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering in Manchester. His research focuses on developing SPH to free-surface flows in engineering and environmental fluid mechanics. A significant part of this effort naturally focuses on acceleration on graphics processing units (GPUs) and massive parallelization using high-performance computing (HPC). He is a founder and until recently Chair 2015-2021 of the SPH rEsearch and engineeRing International Community (SPHERIC), the international organization for SPH. He is a core developer of the open-source code DualSPHysics.
He has twice received the Thomas Telford Premium Award from the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) for his work on SPH. More recently, he is leading the GPU development of the exascale ExCALIBUR Working Group on massively parallel particle hydrodynamics and an investigator on the ExCALIBUR programme on code coupling.
