This position is a full-time role based at the Atlanta, Georgia campus with opportunities for hybrid work. This position will support the general research computing efforts for faculty in the School of Computer Science and the Center for Research into Novel Computing Hierarchies (CRNCH), and it is focused on supporting the CRNCH Rogues Gallery testbed. The ideal candidate will have some background in skills related to the deployment and maintenance of HPC resources or novel architectures and would be willing to learn about new and unique technologies including FPGAs, neuromorphic processors, quantum computing software, near-memory accelerators, and smart networking.

RequirementsThe Key Job Responsibilities are: 1. Project planning and technical leadership for the School and research groups – Work with the school chair, senior faculty and staff to develop technology strategy, policy and procedures – Provide primary point of contact to faculty, staff, students for technical matters relating to research infrastructure – Work with Research Lab Managers in support of strategic research facilities – Manage technical problems, requests, projects to assure quick resolution, best practices and excellent customer service. – Develop and coordinate technical aspects of research grant proposals – Act as liaison to GT/OIT, other GT units and external research partners with regard to research computing capabilities – Provide bid and proposal costing for strategic technologies – Be aware of, and discuss technology trends and new products that could be used to enhance research facilities. 2. Work with the CoC Technology Support Organization (TSO) Research Program Support Group regarding: – Implementation of CoC technical plans, infrastructure, policies and procedures in research facilities – Coordinate the provisioning of OIT and TSO services to meet faculty and student needs – Conduct and enable computing and network research initiatives, overseeing research and development of the necessary technology and infrastructure. – Participate in campus-wide forums for information exchange, planning, and policy regarding campus research technology initiatives and collaborative projects. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Experience: Higher Education experience; experience managing technology in a highly distributed, multi-vendor environment supporting research. Be able to conceptualize immediate and future research technologies. Possess specific knowledge and experience of a wide-range of technologies including: Linux, TCP/IP, network security, storage technologies such as RAID, file sharing protocols, backup/restore processes, novel architectures including GPUs and FPGAs, fluency in multiple programming and scripting languages (e.g. BASH, Python, Perl, etc.). Possess excellent communications skills, the ability to create technical documentation, a strong service orientation, and the ability to work well with other professionals in providing technical solutions in an advanced computing environment. Possess a proven ability to provide leadership, coordination, and assistance of technical personnel.
