Lightning Talk: Interactive HPC Using Jupyter

Workshop: First Combined International Workshop on Interactive Urgent Supercomputing

Authors: Matthew Henderson (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL))

Abstract: Interactive HPC is still difficult to achieve in practice for many scientific researchers. Even with empowering tools such as Jupyter that provide a framework for interactive computing, there are still challenges that scientists face in developing interactive HPC components.

Some of the important challenges scientists face include adapting existing scientific code for HPC environments, interactive data visualization, interactive parameter exploration, streaming data, and the ability to effectively share and allow others to reproduce their work. We will discuss these challenges briefly and ways to address them.
