Scott Callaghan
Biography
Scott Callaghan is a computer scientist at the Southern California Earthquake Center. He is the lead developer on the CyberShake project, a large-scale high performance computing application which performs physics-based probabilistic hazard analysis for California. He also works with scientific workflows in high performance and high throughput environments. He has an interest in education, outreach, and mentoring to prepare the next generation of HPC professionals. He has mentored undergraduates for 15 years, been involved with the International HPC Summer School since 2011, participated in public outreach events in his hometown of St. Louis, and served as an at-large officer of the SIGHPC Education chapter in 2016 and as Secretary-Treasurer in 2018, vice-Chair in 2021 and currently is the Chair. Scott has worked in HPC for over 10 years.
