Timo Betcke

Biography
Prof Betcke is Professor of Computational Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics at University College London and Associate Director of the UCL Centre for Advanced Research Computing. He completed his DPhil in Oxford in 2006 and after research positions at Braunschweig, Manchester, and Reading, he joined UCL as Lecturer in 2011, where he was promoted to full professor in 2018. His main research area is on the interface of numerical analysis and scientific computing, and here in particular the numerical solution of large-scale integral equation problems. He is the lead-investigator of the Bempp boundary element library, and UCL Lead of two Excalibur projects for exascale software development.
