Biography
Zhengji Zhao is a high performance computing (HPC) consultant at National Energy Scientific Research Computing Center (NERSC) at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (2007-present). Her work at NERSC includes supporting materials science and chemistry applications and users, participating in system procurements, developing workload analysis tools, and porting applications to many core and GPU systems. Most recently, she has worked on bringing transparent checkpointing capabilities to NERSC’s production workloads, developing the Checkpoint/Restart (C/R) vision at NERSC. Currently, she leads the C/R standardization effort to bring the full benefits of C/R in HPC. She has served in the program and organizing committees for several HPC conference series, including SuperCheck-SC22, for which she is a primary organizer. Her publication includes the work of developing the reduced density matrix (RDM) method for electronic structure calculations, and the award winning linear scaling 3D fragment (LS3DF) method for large-scale electronic structure calculations (best poster award in SC07, and ACM Gordon Bell prize for Algorithm Innovation in SC08). She received her Ph.D. in computational physics from New York University.
