Biography
Rosa Filgueira, Ph.D, is a Lecturer at the School of Computer Science from the University of St Andrews, (Scotland, UK) since February 2022. Her research work focuses on investigating advanced distributed data-driven frameworks, libraries and architectures, which aim to reduce the effort required to develop data science applications at scale, while ensuring reproducibility of results and enabling scientific software adoption, automation, and understability. She applies these techniques in several domains such as health, the Earth and life sciences, and digital humanities. Prior to her position at St Andrews, she worked as Assistant professor at Heriot-Watt University, Research Fellow at EPCC (University of Edinburgh), Research Assistant at the School of Informatics of the University of Edinburgh, and as a Senior Data Scientist at the British Geological Survey (BGS). Dr. Filgueira received B.Sc. and MSC from the University of Deusto (Spain), and Ph.D. from University Carlos III of Madrid (Spain).
