Ben Sherman received the B.S. degree in computer engineering in 2017 and a Ph.D. in computer engineering in 2021, both from Clemson University. His research focused on creating big data pipelines for heterogeneous computing environments and using machine learning techniques to improve the execution of pipelines at scale. He has several years of experience developing high-performance software for machine learning and bioinformatics, from writing GPU kernels to creating big data pipelines for HPC and the cloud. His work is very interdisciplinary in nature and he collaborates regularly with domain scientists and software engineers alike. Ben is currently a Software Engineer at Seqera Labs.
