Biography
Ann Gentile is manager of the HPC Development Department at Sandia National Laboratories. The department develops advanced system management and user environment methodologies for HPC. They lead development of the R&D 100 award-winning, open-source Lightweight Distributed Metric Service (LDMS) which is included in the NNSA Tri-lab Operating System Stack (TOSS) and is deployed for monitoring and resource utilization understanding at large-scale HPC sites within the NNSA, Office of Science, and NSF, as well as others throughout the world. They also manage Sandia's Advanced Technology and Advanced Architecture testbeds which are, respectively, small instances of the flagship architectures of the NNSA and prototype architectures for future systems. Prior to assuming the manager position, Ann was a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff; she continues to pursue her R&D interests in HPC Operational Analytics and to engage in service to the community through professional committee and review roles. Ann holds a PhD in Chemical Physics from UIUC.
