Mike Haney

Biography
From 2014 to 2020, Michael Haney served first as Program Director, and then Program Director Emeritus, at the Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E), on a long-term assignment from the University of Delaware (UD), where he was a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His earlier work at UD included leading a DARPA-funded multi-university center on chip-scale photonic integration and other large university-industry collaborations. While at ARPA-E he led the development and management of programs in high-efficiency solar energy conversion and photonic networks for data centers and high-performance computing systems. From 2006-2010, also while on extended leave from UD, Haney served as a Program Manager in the Microsystems Technology Office at DARPA, where he developed and managed a portfolio of R&D programs on the application of integrated photonics and micro-optics in computer interconnects and switching, bio-sensing, remote sensing, and solar cells.
