Biography
Bryan is a Senior Technologist in the Advanced Computer Engineering (ACE) Lab at the Centre for High Performance Computing, South Africa. He leads the HPC Ecosystems Project which focuses on redistributing first-tier HPC infrastructure to smaller, usually resource-constrained, institutions throughout the Southern African Development Community region; with clusters currently in more than thirty sub-Saharan sites. His team deploys the physical systems and shared software stack and trains users and System Administrators (in many cases, this is the site’s first HPC system).

Bryan also provides general HPC training and outreach for the CHPC: he lectures South Africa’s Student Cluster Competition participants and teaches parallel computing to Scientific Computing researchers graduate students. Bryan obtained a Master’s in Computer Science through Georgia Tech’s online program and is using his experience to lead the efforts towards developing an HPC-related degree curriculum accessible to South African and regional universities.
