Christopher Simmons
Biography
Dr. Christopher S. Simmons is the Director of Cyberinfrastructure Researcher Support at the University of Texas at Dallas. Simmons earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in Chemical Physics and has over 20 years of experience in computational science. His research portfolio includes leading the collaborative Texas Research and Education Cyberinfrastructure Services (TRECIS) center and managing a $20 million “grand challenge” PSAAP I center funded by the DOE National Nuclear Security Administration. Simmons has led several other large CI initiatives and managed activities for an Exascale Co-design center in Turbulent Combustion and a DARPA-funded research center in Uncertainty Quantification. Simmons is a developer and maintainer of several open-source projects including OpenHPC, where he also serves as the Project Lead.
