Tony Baylis
Biography
Tony Baylis is a senior leader, partner, and international advocate for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and Senior Advisor to the Department of Energy. He collaborates with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL)’s senior leadership on the organization’s DEI strategy and leads the execution of building a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive lab culture and workforce. LLNL has increased the demographics of African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, Asian/Pacific Islanders, and American Indian/Alaskan Native population at the lab by 7.1% in nearly an eight-year period. Tony joined LLNL in 2005 as the workforce and student program manager in the Computation Directorate, before being promoted to the Laboratory’s DEI Director in 2013. Before LLNL, he held technical and management roles of increasing responsibility at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois. Tony represents LLNL on the subjects of DEI, science, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM), outreach, and K-12 student programs.
