Biography
Rollin Thomas is a Data Architect in the Data Science Engagement Group at the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC) at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California. He coordinates NERSC's Superfacility Working Group, an interdisciplinary team that addresses technical and policy challenges associated with the integration of NERSC's high-performance computing (HPC) resources into data-intensive experimental and observational user facility workflows. Rollin is the driving force behind NERSC's Jupyter deployment that currently supports over 1000 users per month (1/3 of all active users). He is the convener of the monthly JupyterHub in HPC community interest group and co-convener of the new Jupyter security subproject. Rollin created NERSC's original strategy for supporting Python users on its Cray systems and initiated the NERSC Exascale Science Application Program for Data.
