Brian Austin is a staff member of the Advanced Technologies Group (ATG) at the National Energy Research Scientific Computing (NERSC) center. His research explores the intersection of scientific computing algorithms with supercomputing system architectures, and combines software profiling, performance modeling, and workload and workflow analysis to understand how all levels of the hardware / software stack influence the productivity of integrated supercomputing systems. Prior to joining NERSC in 2010, Brian earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley.
