DescriptionAt the Ohio Supercomputer Center, we are looking for a staff member to join our Operations Team. The HPC Systems Administrator will provide support and maintenance for our high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure.
As an HPC Systems Administrator, you will have the opportunity to work with high performance computing on a large scale. Our Operations Team at Ohio Supercomputer Center works collaboratively as a team to diagnose problems and maintain our infrastructure. This role will work to maintain our HPC services using standardized procedures and extensive automation, including configuration management and log analysis tools.
You will perform the following:
Perform day-to-day tasks to ensure continuous operation, availability, and performance of research computing systems - 40%
Diagnose software and hardware failures, using well-defined procedures and automated tools to identify and fix problems - 20%
Monitor system health and performance - 20%
Open and track support requests with vendors - 15%
Other duties as assigned - 5%
This position is on day shift with occasional after-hours and weekend support as part of an on-call rotation. This position reports to the HPC Operations Manager. You’ll work collaboratively with other HPC systems staff to maintain operations of the HPC infrastructure.

RequirementsRequired Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
4 years' experience working with high performance computing.
Professional experience administering multi-user Linux-based systems.
Experience automating common tasks in Linux using a scripting language such as Python or Ruby.
Ability to work effectively both within a team and independently, as circumstances warrant.
Strong organizational skills as well as interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Eligible to work in an export controlled environment.
Desired Education/Experience:
Experience in system and related network administration of complex computer systems, specifically Linux systems and preferably Linux clusters.
Experience with InfiniBand networks.
Understanding of parallel file systems.
Experience collaborating with vendor support structures on difficult problems related to high performance computing.
Experience using log analysis tools such as Splunk or Elasticsearch.
Experience using configuration management tools like Puppet or Ansible.
