DescriptionWe are seeking computer scientists that are interested in shaping the future of parallel computing.

On any given day, staff in our department :

Engage with an agile team to research, design, and/or implement highly scalable concurrent runtimes and algorithms targeting emerging architectural platforms

Collaborate with diverse groups of domain experts to understand requirements, co-design/development of scalable computer systems, and/or applications

Develop fault diagnosis and recovery, risk mitigation, and co-design methods to improve the resilience of exascale and emerging platforms and applications experiencing hardware or software anomalies

Work closely with engineering analysis and software teams to ensure that the workflow infrastructure can support analysts developing credible models for ND impact
RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS WE REQUIRE: Bachelor’s degree in STEM with a least five years’ experience; or 13 years of relevant engineering or scientific experience Demonstrated proficiency with code development and software engineering Ability to obtain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance QUALIFICATIONS WE DESIRE: Experience in one or more of the following areas: computer system performance modeling and analysis, HPC system resilience, fault tolerance, theory of concurrency and parallelism, large-scale concurrent algorithms, and/or scalable programming models research and development Proficiency with high-performance computing platforms and tools Experience with one or more of the following: delivering production software, Object Oriented Programming in C#, Java, or C++, GUI development, Simulation Process and Data Management, Agile software development methodology, version control systems, and/or detailing software requirements and design Demonstrated written- and verbal-communication skills Ability to work in a collaborative research environment on problems in a variety of domains Proficiency in solving problems, prioritizing work, and making decisions Familiarity with the processes for obtaining and managing research funding, including building project teams, writing grants and progress reports, and working with sponsors Evidence of professional service to the community, such as service on diversity and inclusion committees, program committees, workshop organization, and/or editorial work
