Biography
Dr. Erik Draeger is a computational scientist at the Center for Applied Scientific Computing at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He received his Ph.D. degree in 2001 in Physics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has over a decade of experience developing scientific applications to achieve maximum scalability and time to solution on next-generation architectures. Since 2005, Dr. Draeger has been a finalist for the ACM Gordon Bell Prize six times, and won the prize in 2006. He is currently the Deputy Director of Application Development for the Department of Energy's Exascale Computing Project, as well as the Group Leader of the Scientific Computing Group in the Center for Applied Scientific Computing at LLNL. Application Development has an annual budget of $150M-$200M and includes a portfolio of 22 Office of Science Applications, 3 NNSA Next-Generation Code Applications, and 7 Co-Design projects.
