Brian Towles
Biography
Brian Towles is a computer architect currently working on the Google TPU project. Previously, at D.E. Shaw Research, he led network architecture and implementation for the Anton family of supercomputers, which are specialized for molecular dynamics simulation (Gorden Bell prizes in '09 and '14). His interests include both on- and off-chip network architecture, performance modeling, microarchitecture, parallel algorithms, and protocol verification. Along with numerous publications and patents related to networking, Brian is the co-author of the textbook "Principles and Practices of Interconnection Networks". He holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University.
